Pentecost
Honesty
When the day of Pentecost had come, they
were all together in one place.
And suddenly
from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled
the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared
among them, and a tongue rested on each of them.
All of them were
filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the
Spirit gave them ability.

Everyone is a house
with four rooms,
a physical, a
mental, an emotional, and a spiritual.
Most of us tend to
live in one room most of the time,
but unless we go
into every room every day,
even if only to keep
it aired,
we are not a
complete person.

Our
Annual Outdoor Worship Service last Sunday
was well attended by people and elk.
In
fact, we thought this swollen mommy-to-be
would have her calf during the service.
I
was sure she was about to give birth!
Instead,
she was just having trouble getting up.
Her
chosen birthing area had become too public.
We
had our first picnic of the season on Sunday.
Alderfer
Park is blue with wild iris!
Vicki
took this picture with her phone since I actually left my camera
behind.
Sixteen
of our Wednesday Breakfast Group went up
to the Tea Room in Silver Plume.

Isabella’s
Ballerina (on the right) was paired
with a painting by a professional artist.
They
were in the Live Auction and went for $1400!
Oh,
how Isabella would have loved to hear that!
We
lost her last January.
This
couple was in love with another one of our artist’s pieces in the Silent
Auction.
I
wonder if they ended up with it.
The
Palette Auction is made up of palettes painted/constructed and donated by
professional artists.
Our
very own Nancy Priest (Painted Toes) did this wonderful piece which she calls Birds of a Feather.
Nancy’s
piece was displayed in the premier spot … front and center!
I’m
sorry, Nancy. I don’t know the final
bid.
“Oh
when the Saints, … “
The band led us to
the Live Auction area.
More
than 600 people attended the event.
I’m
interested in hearing how much was made by the auction.
Bidding
was higher than it has been for the last three years.
At
the lake this morning, we saw two lonely ducklings.
Their
mommy and daddy and brothers and sisters were all gone.
Rebecca
took this picture of her visitor last evening!
Fortunately,
he just ambled off without doing any
damage … not even to her bird feeder.
My
conception of public duty is to face each problem
as
though my entire record in life
were
to be judged by the way I handled it,
to
keep always in touch with the folks back home,
to
be firm for my honesty of opinion,
but
to recognize every man's right
to
an honest difference of opinion.

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in
Jerusalem. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because
each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. Amazed and
astonished, they asked, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And
how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? Parthians,
Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and
Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene,
and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs—in our own
languages we hear them speaking about God's deeds of power." All were
amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?"
But others sneered and said, "They are filled with new wine."
But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them:
"Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and
listen to what I say. Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is
only nine o'clock in the morning. No, this is what was spoken through the
prophet Joel:
'In the last days it will be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.
Even upon my slaves, both men and women,
in those days I will pour out my Spirit;
and they shall prophesy.
And I will show portents in the heaven above
and signs on the earth below,
blood, and fire, and smoky mist.
The sun shall be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood,
before the coming of the Lord’s great and glorious
day.
Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'
