Peace Be With
You
19 ... "Peace be with you."
20After he said this, he showed them his hands and his
side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
21Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the
Father has sent me, so I send you." 22When he had said
this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
23If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven
them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." ...
24But Thomas ... said to them,
"Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark
of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not
believe."

Moral excellence
comes about as a result of habit.
We become just by
doing just acts,
temperate by doing
temperate acts,
brave by doing brave
acts.
~ Aristotle
Justice is
conscience, not a personal conscience
but the conscience
of the whole of humanity.
Those who clearly
recognize the voice of their own conscience
usually recognize
also the voice of justice.

Amazing.
I have always found
that mercy
bears richer fruits
than strict justice.

* One of the
few paintings of Bernini. He despised painting, he regarded it as
deception and lie in contrast with sculpturing which is the truth. He painted
only five self-portraits and a few pictures representing saints.
